Developments at the UF College of Medicine
Susmita Pati, MD
Susmita Pati, MD, the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida/Neviaser Family Professor in Pediatric Palliative Care, was named chair of the UF College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics on the Jacksonville campus in July 2025. She is focused on cultivating a culture of academic excellence in pediatric care by leveraging institutional assets to transform pediatrics in the community.

Christopher O. Hoyte, MD, MBA, joined the UF College of Medicine as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine on the Gainesville campus in March. An expert in toxicology, he brings two decades of experience to UF and most recently spent 16 years at the University of Colorado.

With gratitude to a dedicated leader
After serving as interim dean of the College of Medicine since 2024, Jennifer Hunt, MD, MEd, will step down effective July 31 to become dean of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She has made a lasting impact across the college’s education, research and patient care missions, leading with clarity, purpose and a focus on continuity and progress.
