Honoring Wall of Fame inductees
Two alumni inducted into College of Medicine Wall of Fame during Alumni Weekend 2024
Two College of Medicine alumni have been inducted into the college’s Wall of Fame. This honor was created in 1988 to recognize outstanding alumni who have made contributions to medicine, government, education and the community.

Lee M. Ellis, MD, who completed his surgical residency training and a postdoctoral fellowship at Florida in 1990, and Jeffrey Levenson, MD ’84, were inducted into the UF College of Medicine Wall of Fame in 2024, joining distinguished alumni who serve as legacies to the far-reaching impact a Florida medical education has on the betterment of health and human lives.
Ellis, a professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology and Molecular & Cellular Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, was recognized for redefining the standard of care for metastatic colorectal cancer, including identifying vascular endothelial growth factor as a treatment target and the RAS gene family as a resistance marker.
Levenson, a founding partner of Levenson Eye Associates in Jacksonville, Florida, chief medical officer of the philanthropic organization SEE International and founder of the Gift of Sight program — which provides free cataract surgeries to thousands of blind and medically indigent Floridians — was recognized for his exceptional service advocating for patients and curing blindness around the world.
