Supporting pediatric cancer research
Jim and Marilyn Islam Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research will support rising star professorship

For three decades, Jim Islam and Marilyn Nye-Islam have supported cancer research in Florida. Their latest philanthropic effort, the Jim and Marilyn Islam Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research, will support a rising star professorship in the UF College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics division of hematology and oncology.
“This gift will allow our team to recruit the best and brightest researchers and get exciting new investigative projects off the ground,” said William Slayton, MD ’92, chief of the division and an associate professor of pediatrics.
Nye-Islam added, “Thanks to advancements in research, children who would not have survived their diagnosis two decades ago are now able to do so. Our goal is to continue building on this progress to improve outcomes for even more kids facing cancer.”
