Leadership developments at the UF College of Medicine

Melissa K. Turley, PharmD, MPAS ’05, PA-C, has been named director for the School of PA Studies. Turley joined the UF College of Medicine in 2019 as an assistant professor after practicing primary care in a variety of settings.


Martina Murphy, MD ’09, has been appointed senior associate dean for graduate medical education. Murphy completed her residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and hematology and oncology at Florida and has a strong dedication to medical education.

Todd M. Brusko, PhD ’06, the Sebastian Family Chair in Diabetes Research and a professor in the Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine, has been named director of the UF Diabetes Institute. Brusko, whose lab investigates immunotherapies for Type 1 diabetes, previously served as the institute’s research director.


Shireen Madani Sims, MD ’01, has been named Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology chair, after serving as interim chair since September. A three-time Gator alumna, Madani has been a College of Medicine faculty member since joining the OB-GYN department in 2005 as clerkship director.


Andrew Dubin, MD, has been named interim chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dubin joined the college as a professor in 2018 after serving as residency program director, chief and interim chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical College in New York.
