Alumni appointments and happenings

Mary Beth Seay, MD68, was appointed medical director of Children’s Medical Services, Big Bend Region in Tallahassee and is developing the behavioral pediatrics program for children with special health needs.

Robert Watson, MD69, and his wife Caroline are happy to announce the birth of their first grandchild. Trinity Cay Watson was born Oct. 24 weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measuring 19 inches long.

Rochelle Filker Andreotti, MD78, accepted an offer at Vanderbilt University as associate professor of clinical radiology and assistant professor of obstetrics. Dr. Andreotti was also inducted as a fellow into the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Khalid Sheikh, BS78, MD81, and his family recently established the Izzat Hasan Sheikh Endowed Professorship in the department of religion of the UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The professorship is intended to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Khalid Sheikh’s mother and seeks to promote the objective study of the Islamic world, its religious beliefs, social and moral values, cultural traditions and contemporary challenges and opportunities. Dr. Sheikh practices cardiology in Merritt Island and Cocoa Beach. He earned his MBA from Florida Institute of Technology in 2007 and was recently appointed to be director of cardiology at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

Brian Price, MD88, was appointed as acting clinical director, department of obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston.

Frank Santamaria, MD92, was promoted to the position of medical director and chief medical officer for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville. Dr. Santamaria oversees the Community Hospice Medical Services Department, which consists of eight full-time associate medical directors and four advanced registered nurse practitioners, as well as part-time and PRN staff.

Karen Gerancher, MD93, was appointed assistant residency director at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Gerancher also founded the generalist division in the department of obstetrics & gynecology.

Paul Alphonse Jr., MD98 and his wife, Latanya, welcomed their new son, Preston Lajuan, on July 19. Dr. Alphonse practices urology in Atlanta.

Monica Bedi, MD98, opened Reflections Medspa offering cosmetic dermatology services in Sarasota, Fla. Dr. Bedi also opened Dermatology Associates in Bradenton, Fla. with an associate.

Sunil N. Joshi, MD98, and his wife Manisha proudly announce the birth of their son, Sohan, on May 13. Sohan joins big sister Saloni, 3.

Jamey Sarvis, MD98, joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as a urologic oncology fellow and remains on active duty in the U.S. Navy.

Jeremy Doak, MD03, completed his residency and started active duty in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola Naval Hospital. He is also the proud father to his 5-month-old son, Connor.
