Each year, The Gator Nation shows its true colors when alumni from all corners of the country return to Gainesville to show their Gator pride. And this year is no different. October 19 – 21, College of Medicine alumni will have the opportunity to reconnect with classmates and friends, reminisce about old memories and make new ones.“Alumni Weekend is a great way to reconnect with classmates, but also with the College of Medicine,” said Sunil Joshi, MD ’98, president of the College of Medicine medical alumni board.

“It’s the time to remember why we fell in love with the college in the first place.”

Throughout the weekend, alumni will hear about the latest College of Medicine news, including plans for a revised curriculum and new medical education building. The proposed new facility will include the H. James Free Center for Primary Care Education and Innovation, and serve as an exciting platform to implement the invigorated curriculum. Alumni will also have the opportunity to pledge support for the building in a variety of ways.

“This is our chance to show our support for future physicians,” Joshi continued.

Alumni can begin sharing their memories now by participating in the College of Medicine’s first photo contest, “Gator Snapshots.” Post your memorable (yet tasteful) photos to the alumni Facebook page (facebook.com/ufdrgator) or send them to drgator@health.ufl.edu between now and July 6. Voting will take place July 9 – 13. The most “likes” will win a tailgate basket, which will include two complimentary tickets to the weekend tailgate event!
